Farewell to My WH40K Collection

Yesterday was a sad day, but also one that I feel pretty good about. As many of you know, Joplin, Missouri was devastated by an F5 tornado last May. One of the businesses hit was the local hobby store there and its WH40K Gaming Group.

As it happens, one of its member works for a company that is a supplier to my company. During the course of one of our luncheon meetings, this engineer and I discovered that we were both into miniature gaming. He is a big fan of Chaos Marines.

Well long story short (shorter), he told me about the storm's impact on their gaming. I offered to sell off my collection of Catachans, Ultra Marines, Tyranids, Dark Eldar, Tau, Kroot, Necrons, Imperial Guard and Mordians along with about 5 years of White Dwarf for a very small sum. I wanted to help out this gaming group and with my son off to the Marines in November, I will lose my only opponent.

So yesterday we made the drive up to Joplin and handed over the collection. The timing could not have been better. Yesterday was the grand reopening of the Joplin Gaming Store.

So I say farewell to my boys, particularly my Catachans. They never saw a Tyranid they couldn't knock down.

Boys do good service in Joplin.

  1. Awesome story Jones! I'm sure it was hard to get rid of them but I bet it feels worth it. And thanks for your son's and your family's sacrifice, I and many other appreciate it.
